What currently fills your days and can you tell us a little bit about your journey to get there?
My "day job" is a Nurse Practitioner at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
I work in Pediatric Orthopaedics treating broken bones, sports injuries,
and other musculoskeletal conditions. Getting to observe the resilience
of children firsthand is such a gift! After about 10 years in the medical
field though, my creative side was feeling neglected. I recently began
drawing portraits of pets and I now take commissions. I love capturing
the personalities of our furry best friends and the joy my pictures bring
their owners.
Who or where do you look for inspiration?
Ottolenghi can do no wrong. I’m also guilty of asking strangers at
Dekalb Farmers Market what they are preparing with some of the more
exotic foods there!
Where will you be on your next day off?
Ideally, in Mexico sipping a margarita, eating fresh-made guac, and
listening to the waves crash. Realistically, shlepping my kids to
Buckhead baseball or swim lessons (#momlife).
What is Atlanta’s food scene missing?
More rooftops, please! One silver lining of Covid is the push to eat
outdoors. I absolutely love a good patio, rooftop, or firepit and I am glad
so many restaurants are expanding their outdoor options.
What elements do you look for in a great dining experience?
For me, the atmosphere, views, and experience are just as important as
the food itself. We eat with our eyes first and, being a particularly visual
person, I appreciate the aesthetics of a restaurant and meal.
Last meal?
Does Jeni’s ice cream count as a meal?
